The floor-based CPR component is a fixed part of the nationally recognised assessment. It can't be substituted or waived. If a physical injury or condition would stop you kneeling on the floor for the CPR assessment, contact Moreton Group before you book. This lets you discuss reasonable adjustments within what the unit requires. Without this contact, you may not be able to receive the accredited HLTAID011 outcome for that session.
First aid qualifications are generally recommended to be renewed every three years. The CPR component has a shorter refresher cycle, with annual CPR training recommended. Check any specific employer, professional, licensing or industry requirements that apply to you, as some may ask for more frequent first aid training.
This guidance comes from WorkSafe Tasmania, Safe Work Australia and the Australian Resuscitation Council. All three recommend refreshing first aid training every three years, and CPR skills at least annually. Technically, a unit of competency doesn't simply "expire." Your Statement of Attainment records that you successfully completed the training. What does change over time is currency. Employers, industries and regulators may want to see a recent refresher, to be confident your skills are up to date. That's why the three-year and annual guidance exists.
