Training Courses

We specialise in providing health and safety training to individuals and organisations. We can facilitate the full range of health and safety courses Tasmania wide.

Moreton Group delivers nationally recognised training in partnership with Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909.

Important information regarding course durations:

Course durations, as mentioned above, are reflective of group sizes of between 4 and 15 participants. If there are less students in a group, you may find course duration reduced by a maximum of 10%. If a class size exceeds 15 participants it may therefore also be necessary to increase course duration depending on the number of participants.

Information about the course:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to safely identify and handle sharps and infectious waste. It also requires the ability to implement controls for potential hazards related to sharps and infectious waste.

The unit applies to all workers, volunteers or community members who may be required to manage an area in which sharps or infectious waste are present.

Target audience:

This course is intended to provide participants with a range of knowledge, skills, generic and specific competencies to assist in safely performing the following job role(s):

Council rangers and public workers
Parks and City Service Domestic and Commercial Cleaners
Medical staff and first aid officers
Waste and recycling collection and processing staff
Auto-Repair and Auto-Towing Service Operators
Public Transport workers

There are no prerequisites for this course.

Award issued:

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for: 10685NAT Course in Safe Handling of Sharps and Infectious Waste.

Course duration:

Full course: 6 hours face-to-face training

Pre-course study options:

There is no pre-course study required for this course.

Information about the course:

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise potentially hazardous manual tasks, and then to prepare for and complete those tasks in a safe manner.

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand standards and industry codes of practice. The Hazardous manual tasks code of practice applies to this work.

Target audience:

This unit applies to all workers involved in manual handling tasks.

Prerequisites:

There are no prerequisites for this unit.

Award issued:

Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment for: HLTWHS005 Conduct Manual Tasks Safely

Course duration:

Full course: 4-5 hours face-to-face training

Refresher course: 2-4 hours face-to-face training
